Steve Shrum, MD, FAAP, FACP​

Dr. Shrum was raised and graduated high school in Harrison, AR.  He then went to the University of Arkansas and received a Bachelor's of Science degree.  Afterwards, he moved to Little Rock with his wife, Dixie.  He completed his Medical Doctorate degree in 2001 from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).  Dr. Shrum then completed a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Program.  He trained at Arkansas Children's Hospital, UAMS, and McClellan's VA Hospital and currently provides care to patients from prematurity to geriatrics.  He serves on several boards of  non-profit organizations in town and is actively involved at NARMC in leadership roles.  His hobbies include coaching the youth of Harrison, hunting, and flying.

Dixie Shrum, APN, PNP-BC

Mrs. Shrum graduated from Harrison High School.  She obtained her Bachelors of Nursing from University of Arkansas-Fayetteville in 1996 and Masters of Nursing from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2000. She is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.  Dixie previously worked at Arkansas Children's Hospital for 9 years and is currently seeing pediatric patients at Cornerstone Medical Clinic.  She was born and raised in Harrison and is very happy to be back home since 2005.  She and her husband, Dr. Steve Shrum, have three children.  They enjoy attending the children's activities which mostly consists of every sport imaginable. They are also active in their church, First Baptist Church of Harrison.  Dixie is on the Harrison Public Schools Foundation Board and active in PTA.

​Desiree' Looper, APN,
​FP-BC
Desiree' has lived in Newton County, AR since 1994.  She obtained an associate in nursing (RN) in 1999 at North Arkansas College in Harrison, AR.  She obtained a Bachelor's in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR and then completed her education with a Master's in Nursing (APN) from Chamberlain College of Nursing in 2020.  She received board certification for Family Nurse Practitioner through t​he American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

She previously worked at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center for 16 years and at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, AR for five years.

She is married to JR Looper and they have two daughters.  As a family, they love to fish, camp, and spend time outside.
