Steve Shrum, M.D. FAAP, FACP
Board Certified Pediatrics
​Board Certified Internal Medicine

Dr. Shrum returned to his hometown of Harrison to start his private practice in 2005.  He is double boarded in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine.  After graduating from Harrison High School, he completed his Bachelor's of Science in biology at the University of Arkansas.  He attended UAMS for medical school and chose to stay in Little Rock to complete his Pediatric Residency at Arkansas Children's Hospital.  Dr. Shrum trained at UAMS and McClellan's VA for his Internal Medicine Residency.  He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  He and his wife, Dixie, had no other plans than to return to Harrison to be active members in the community.  Their three kids have graduated from Harrison High School and have started their next chapter in life at the University of Arkansas and other post-graduate schools.  Dr. Shrum loves to fly airplanes, hunt, fish, ride his bicycle, and attend sporting events.

​He currently provides care to patients from prematurity to geriatrics at Cornerstone Medical Clinic.

Dixie Shrum, MNSc, PNP-BC. APN
Board Certified Pediatrics​

Mrs. Shrum graduated from Harrison High School.  She obtained her Bachelor's of Nursing degree from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville in 1996 and Master of Nursing from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2000.  She is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.  Dixie previously worked at Arkansas Children's Hospital for nine years.
​She was born and raised in Harrison and is very happy to be back home since 2005.
She and her husband, Dr. Steve Shrum, have three grown children who are currently in college and professional schools.  They are also active in their church, First Baptist Church of Harrison.  Dixie is on the Harrison Public Schools Foundation Board.

Desiree' Looper, MSN, FNP-BC, APN Board Certified Family Medicine

Desiree' has lived in Newton County, Arkansas since 1994.  She obtained an Associate's in Nursing (RN) in 1999 at North Arkansas College, in Harrison.  She obtained a Bachelor's in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville.  She then completed her education with a Master of Nursing (APN) from Chamberlain College of Nursing in 2020.  She received board certification for Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).  She previously worked at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, for 16 years and at Arkansas Children's Hospital for five years.
She is married to JR Looper and they have two daughters.  As a family they love to fish, camp, and spend time outside.

 Brooke Kimes, MSN, FNP-BC, APN
Board Certified Family Medicine


Brooke has lived in Boone County since she was a child, where she grew up on her family's farm, outside of Bergman.  She is a 2012 graduate of Bergman High School.  She received her Associate's of Arts in Science from North Arkansas College in Harrison, where she played basketball for two years.  She then attended Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2018.  Brooke then furthered her education throught the  University of Texas at Arlington, where she earned her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner.  Brooke received her board certification  through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).  She previously worked at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center for five years, and also worked as a traveling nurse in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Brooke is married to Kanyon Kimes and they have a son.  She loves spending time outdoors and watching sports with her family.

Brooke has a deep desire to help patients in this commnity she calls home, and is seeing patients at Cornerstone Medical Clinic.
